About the Boot

The Boot is a collection of poetry produced by the Young Writers’ Workshop, a program at Southwest Youth and Family Services. We are young people who voice opinions about society and tell about the lives we live.

Poems from the 2011 Writers' Workshop focus on the commonalities in all our cultures - after all, we all come from the same place. Or, as we call it, “Fallopia – the MOTHERland." In our work, you’ll find many themes, ranging from racism, police brutality, and capitalism, to dialectics, love, and family. We take our experiences and put them on paper, opening a portal into our world for you.

We are currently in the process of uploading new poems from the 2012 Writers Workshop.
